Lusitano Stallion Breeding Special: 
Call for details

Breeding season is in full swing!  This year, the breeding program has been revised.  We are breeding all of our Percheron mares to  our black Lusitano Stallion, Wolverine (Wolf) to create Spanish Normans.  Wolf has been bred via artificial insemenation to Cielo Azure Fleur du Soleil, GTs Joanna and Cielo Azure's Eleanor this month (we are waiting for next month's heat cycle to see if they have settled).  Next month, we will breed our Percheron mare, Duncreek's Miss Glory.  

We will be keeping the fillies from these breedings but will be selling the colts.  Prices per colt will be between $7,000.00 and $10,000.00  We will be glad to reserve a foal, with deposit.  There should be at least one colt.  There has been a lot of interest in these foals, so if you are interested, please let us know soon!

Wolf is also available for outside mares. Wolf has been trained and his semen tested for shipping from Centaur Farms.  His quality of semen passed with flying colors, even after three days -his sperm went from 90% to 80% motility.  His concentration is high.  

Wolf is a pleasure to work with -he has the best temperament.  I can even breed him by myself, if necessary.  I just enjoy this boy so much!

So, if anyone wants to breed their Percheron mare to create a Spanish Norman, we are here and ready to go!  Wolf has been registered with the Spanish Norman Foundation, and all offspring can be registered with IALHA (International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association) as half andalusians and shown as such.  


Wolf is black with the bay gene (he looks black before the summer fade), 15.3 and from bullfighting lines.  His isre is the famous bull fighting horse Centurio and his dam is Soraya.  Wolf has exceptional conformation, fantastic gaits and a temperament that is unbeatable.  He can be handled by anyone and is very nitelligent with lots of agility and cowsense.  Wolf is registered with IALHA, #6777P

Our Spring Lusitano BABY is Almost HERE!!!

PSL Lusitano mare Caranja (inspected and passed in 2011) is starting to look ready to pop! I am getting very excited about this birth! Her 340th day is 4/29, The foal will be black -if it is a mare, she will be joining our herd. If it is a colt, he will be for sale. She is bred to Rumbero (PSL). The dam is 16 hands and the sire is 16.2, so the foal should be tall! Tall, dark and handsome - I am hoping for a filly though. So...tall, dark and gorgeous (as well as APSL eligible)! I cleaned stalls yesterday and this week I will be getting the birthing stall set-up, monitor on line and refreshing all my birthing supplies. I can't wait! Stay tuned

All journeys must have a beginning

I am starting this blog to document my journey into the world of Lusitano horses. Well, this journey actually started almost two years ago but...as I am about to embark on a journey to Portugal and will attend the first International Lusitano Congress and a Lusitano horse show in Lisbon, I have decided to blog as much as possible as a way to share what I have learned about the horses I love, also known as PSL (Pure Sangue Lusitano). For us (my husband Robert and I), this trip to Portugal represents a chance to renew and educate ourselves and to train our eyes to understand what is the Lusitano horse.

To begin, I am the proud owner of two Lusitanos. A 100% Veiga yearling stallion named JP Zarathustra -who is a dream come true, and a wonderful mare, named Caranja SBS. Caranja was bred in Brazil and imported to the states in-utero. We have just bred Caranja to a PSL named Rumbero and last week, we received the wonder news that she has settled. Hopefully, in the fall, Caranja will pass her adult inspection and then be registered in the adult PSL studbook -held by the Portuguese. Both horses are currently registered with IALHA and both are in the process of being placed in the Portuguese studbook. Getting the horses registered in Portugal has proved to be quite the task. In fact, on of my early blogs will probably be about the process of registering Lusitanos in Portugal and how to do it -as what seems like SHOULD be a straight forward process, is not always so.

But for now, you all can look forward to reading about our trip, what I am learning at the First International Lusitano Congress (July 5-6) and then it will be many, many photos of the horse show! Hold on -things are going to move fast around here!
